About me
Jeff is Special Advisor and Vice Chair of TD Bank. He previously held leadership roles as President of TD Cowen, a division of TD Securities, and as Chair and CEO of Cowen from 2018 until the company’s acquisition by TD in March 2023.
Prior to that, Jeff was President of Cowen after serving as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Investment Banking. Earlier in his career, he was the co-portfolio manager of Cowen Investment Management’s (formerly known as Ramius) multi-strategy investment portfolio, having joined the firm at its founding in 1994.
Since 2016 Jeff has served on the Board of the Foundation for Jewish Camp and was a camper, counselor and program director at Emma Kaufmann Camp in the 1970s and 1980s. Jeff believes in leading with empathy and making a difference in the lives of others which he believes are qualities he learned at Jewish summer camp. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Partnership for NYC and the Board of Directors of UPMC, a world-renowned health care provider and insurer headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition, he is a member of the Executive Committee of UJA-Federation of New York and Vice Chair of the Board of the Tree of Life Inc., which was formed to rebuild the Tree of Life Synagogue after the tragic shooting in 2018 and is dedicated to combatting identity-based hate in all its forms.
Jeff is a member of the Committee on Capital Markets Regulation (CCMR), a non-profit organization dedicated to efficient capital markets and the stability of the financial system. He also serves on the board of the American Securities Association (ASA). A passionate advocate for small companies and emerging businesses, he was Vice Chair (2019-2023) and an inaugural member of the SEC’s Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee.
Jeff received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Originally from Pittsburgh, he and his wife Linda reside in New York and have three grown children.
